Do you have a special doggy in your life? or doggies? 😀

I do, I have a wonderful exceptional dog, Mr. Spot, who has been in our house since 1999. Yes, Mr. Spot is 14 years old, or in dog years he is 98 years old. Go Spot! 😀

As expected with his age, this year we have been dealing with arthritis, mainly in his back legs. He has his good days and his bad days were it is very hard for him to walk. He sleeps a lot now. He doesn’t eat standing up anymore, he eats lying down. We take it day by day. Other than that he is in exceptional health.

Mr. Spot eats special food with glucosamine and chondroitin, takes vitamins, supplements, and non steroidal anti-inflamatories daily. I’ve been doing some research as to what else I can do to help him.

I came up with this very helpful article at the Dogington Post on Coconut Oil for Dogs. Turns out, there are a lot of benefits your doggy will get from coconut oil. Benefits that protect your dog against yeast and fungal infections, smelly coats, thyroid dysfunction and parasites. Arthiritis and other pains can be treated or minimized also.

That was enough for me.

Mr. Spot has been taking his daily dose of Coconut Oil for almost a month now and I can see the difference. His appetite is back to normal (he was eating less and less before). Coconut oil is helping with the arthritis pain. His back legs seem to be getting stronger every day and he can stand up more easily now. I’ve even seen him run a couple of times like he used to! I’ve seen so much improvement that I had to share it with you.

Long story short:

Coconut Oil is GREAT for your Canine Friends!

You can try with the oil (it’s what I use, not this brand but this one has very good reviews) and also there are coconut dog treats you can try if your pup doesn’t like the oil (which I highly doubt after seeing my two puppies lick their bowl after eating).

Give it a try. 🙂
