Seven Nation Army (Album Version)by the White Stripes.

If you follow me on twitter or on my blog you know this song has been part of my life lately-ish. I had to include it on my Mes Tunes series. I had to.

Let’s face it, EVERYONE by now, has heard that riff. Even the priest at my church has heard that riff! (I was once in church, the choir was warming up and this kid started playing the Seven Nation Army riff with a serious angelical face.) HA!

Anyway, I like this song. That riff at the beginning traps you. It’s powerful, mysterious, creepy and badass at the same time. My kind of tune! This riff is what made this song one of the top 10 Greatest Guitar Tracks ever!

The lyrics make no sense to me. I still haven’t tried to get some sense out of them and I’m not planning on doing that anytime. I just know I listen to this song and I go to a happy empowered place.  And the video…when it was released I thought it was the greatest visual thing on a screen ever. It’s so White Stripes.

I can listen to this song when I’m happy, when I’m sad, when I’m pissed off, when I’m lazy, whenever! It definitely has a place in my life’s playlist. So without further a do, and to put an end to my 2 and a half days in a row of humming this song, listen to Seven Nation Army.

I like this song.

I’m gonna fight ’em all
A seven nation army couldn’t hold me back
They’re gonna rip it off
Taking their time right behind my back
And I’m talking to myself at night
Because I can’t forget
Back and forth through my mind
Behind a cigarette
And the message coming from my eyes
Says leave it alone
Don’t want to hear about it
Every single one’s got a story to tell
Everyone knows about it
From the Queen of England to the hounds of hell
And if I catch it coming back my way
I’m gonna serve it to you
And that aint what you want to hear
But that’s what I’ll do
And the feeling coming from my bones
Says find a home
I’m going to Wichita
Far from this opera for evermore
I’m gonna work the straw
Make the sweat drip out of every pore
And I’m bleeding, and I’m bleeding, and I’m bleeding
Right before the lord
All the words are gonna bleed from me
And I will think no more
And the stains coming from my blood
Tell me go back home
