My post about the rewind or pause button reminded me of this song.

I know life goes on, and we have to move on with the times, but as far as music goes, I can’t forget ~~delete~~ my playlists from the 90’s. Erase / Rewindwas a big hit for The Cardigans back then and is still one for me.

This song brings back great memories of good times. It was played and replayed on road trips, girl’s nights out, all nighters, early morning showers, before, during and after the writting of papers, etc. If you went to college in the 90’s, raise your hand if you had the Gran Turismoalbum? (btw this was the last The Cardigans album I bought ha ha ha)

Anyway, I like the rhythm of this song. Those first chords sound intriguing and make me want to listen to the rest of the song. And Nina’s voice…yes, it’s not the greatest life changing voice on the planet but it’s like those first chords, intriguing and it hooks me.

Depending on your mood, you can feel empowered, in a sort of cynical and sarcastic way, with this song. If you listen at how Nina sings “I’ve changed my mind“, it sounds as if she’s in a useless relationship and feels encouraged to say “You know what, this is not for me. I don’t want it. I’ve changed my mind and frankly I’m not sorry.” (#ouch) Harsh, but true boys and girls, we’ve all been there before.

I like this song because it reminds me that you make choices in life and you’re entitled to change your mind when you see things not going the way you planned them. Of course you won’t go through life changing your mind for every single choice you make, because let’s face it, that would make you the most insecure person in the world, but every once in a while, when you feel it’s the right thing to do, it’s A-OK to Erase and Rewind. Don’t mind what others say, YOU are the owner of your destiny, and you know when is the right time to start over.
